Shoichi Hashimoto Tobikumo Gyuto 240mm Makassar Ebony Handle

$2,416.00

The Tobikumo series, the ‘cloud jump’, was named when the artist saw this particular twisted forge welding pattern, which reminded him of a cloud moving through the sky at regular intervals, almost as if jumping with the wind.

On top of the beautiful Damascus pattern, the matching ebony wood sheath and the handle also make our heart jump. They are expertly crafted with just enough accents in each - white bone for the sheath and blonde buffalo horn ferrule for the handle. The level of detail on the Shoichi Hashimoto blades, while also being a functional piece of art, put them on a whole other level of prized possessions for many lovers of culinary and cutlery arts.

A chef's knife ('Gyuto' in Japanese) is the most versatile blade that can handle almost anything in the kitchen. Their shape and often generous edge length mean that whether it's cutting small tomatoes or portioning a large roast, you can do it with one blade. Most cooks have multiple chef's knives and it is not hard to justify getting one more when it has so much utility.
