ABOUT SHI.HAN

A true craftsman of his trade, Shehan Prull is a Santa Fe-based knife maker who started studying metalwork at the age of 12 under renowned blacksmith, Tom Joyce. As his interest and experience with ironwork grew, Prull traveled to Japan to visit different smiths in the country and eventually met Hiroshi Ashi who took him under his way for two years.

In 2009, he returned to Sante Fe to take on various ironwork and fabrication projects to begin funding for his shop. Twelve years and several commissions later, shi.han Fine Knives was born. With his own shop, Prull applies his vast knowledge of metalwork, Japanese techniques and philosophy to forge kitchen knives that are both stunning and deliver high performance in the kitchen.

ABOUT GYUTOS

A chef's knife ('Gyuto' in Japanese) is the most versatile blade that can handle almost anything in the kitchen. Their shape and often generous edge length mean that whether it's cutting small tomatoes or portioning a large roast, you can do it with one blade. Most cooks have multiple chef's knives and it is not hard to justify getting one more when it has so much utility.
